Overview
Creating new programs to streamline the workflow of colleagues. Talk with manager and product owners to discuss next steps and ways to improve the applications created, and publish wikis detailing to individuals on how to install / utilise the program. Spend time debugging and maintaining the software getting it to a stage such that it doesn't need constant attention.
Skills
Coding, problem-solving, presenting, communication, time - management - sometimes you have multiple projects and lots you want to get done in one day, and the next not have much to do so balancing this is essential
Responsibilities
Lots of responsibility, basically told what they wanted done and in what language then was left to make a solution and demonstrate it and refine (quite an agile work mentality). If you needed help, could always go to manager but were expected to reach out and ask for help.
Support & Guidance
Lots of support by team members and if I had any issues there was always someone to reach out to.
Culture
Very collaborative and the company puts a focus on work-life balance, there is often opportunity to catch-up with others and for Interns there are even intern socials / events to help you connect to people.
Your Impressions
I enjoyed it very much, my manager went out of his way to put me in contact with various people in the bank to learn what they did and generally make connections while interning here.
Yes
Be yourself, considerate and collaborative always looking to learn and improve indevidually as well as part of a team and you will go far.
