    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • The purpose is to facilitate strong relationships with customers hence communication with different teams + clients because relationship managers are the first point of interaction. On a day to day basis, involved helping with pitch deck creation, peer analysis, group project and origination tasks. There was the opportunity to understand how financial modelling works and the pricing model used.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
  • Firstly, my communication and presentation skills have improved significantly and had the opportunity to present my own project to the managing director and sector head. My networking skills have improved given the lunch and learn insights days and coffee chat opportunities I had. My team working skills have improved given both my group project and working closely with my team on projetcs.

    Responsibilities

  • 3. Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
  • I was given much responsibility helping with pitch deck creation for client use and completing important forms such as a treasury reserve deposit checklist. There was the opportunity to provide my viewpoint regarding sensitive pricing information and also helping provide outlooks regarding sector specific potential opportunities which was very insightful.

    Support & Guidance

  • 4. How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
  • There was a lot of support during the internship my line manager was always available to respond to any queries or issues I may have had. Moreover, I could reach out to my buddy who was in a similar position before if the query was more role based. My team were always at hand and willing to answer any questions I had regarding any meeting or task I had to complete.

    Culture

  • 5. What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
  • It was a great company culture had the opportunity to shadow different teams and everyone was willing to share their experiences and provide useful advice towards my career. A very inclusive culture with people respecting each other's opinions represented by the meetings offered encouraging collaboration and discouraging bias and etc.

  • 6. To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
  • I thoroughly enjoyed my internship. I had the opportunity to get to know my team and work with most of them on different tasks. I had the opportunity to work on important tasks and most importantly contribute in the team meetings. There was also a CSR day to better understand the CSR opportunities.
