Overview
Working on a independent project alongside the team. Shadowing other team members and people from other teams.
Skills
Developed coding skills (python). Expanded financial knowledge. Developed 'general' business skills (meetings, presentations).
Responsibilities
I was responsible for my time management and project progression.
Support & Guidance
Very good support and guidance. Able to talk to manager/ buddy whenever necessary/ same day. Able to arrange meetings with members of HR department if needed. All interns had a mentor from a different team to discuss their progress throughout the internship.
Culture
Good company culture, very supportive for interns for whom this was a first experience with finance/ investment banking. Networking opportunities organised throughout internship. General atmosphere was focused and fast-paced - however everyone was happy to schedule time with interns to discuss their job/ shadowing.
Your Impressions
Really good experience.
Yes
Research the roles available at an investment bank, and try to understand what is involved in the day-to-day roles. Each job varies a lot so it's best to research this before hand/ explore during the internship. Having a general understanding of finance is helpful before starting.
