Overview
On average, I work ~16 hours a day mainly focusing on buy-side M&A deals and debt financing for financial sponsors. I conduct all types of financial analysis to understand a company's profitability and ability to pay debt after it is bought by a private equity fund with a leveraged buyout.
Skills
I have never been involved in such complex transactions allowing me to comprehend fast how business models of companies work, communicate effectively, time my time as work has to be delivered fast to the clients as well as taking control of my emotions as this job can be very tough even as an intern.
Responsibilities
Yes, I have. Not to crazy extents but I feel that depending on the person I can be quite autonomous with my tasks.
Support & Guidance
We have received a lot of guidance from the bank and team. However, a common characteristic of my team is providing us with constant feedback which helps us become better everyday but you definitely need to learn how to handle your emotions and not take it personlaly.
Culture
Everyone is very nice and friendly. It is noticeable though that when everyone is stressed, the atmosphere can get quite intense and heated
Your Impressions
I did enjoy it a lot and I have learned so much about this job and myself. I think that this internship experience was needed for me to understand what I like and how it actually feels like when working at a big organization
Yes
