Overview
I spend most of my time reading code and some of my time writing code. I take up tickets on a Jira board which detail either a feature to implement or a change or a bug to fix. I switch between different client projects every once in a while and must spend time learning the code base for a few days when I join a new project.
Skills
Yes I've learnt to use some new languages and frameworks as well as how to write better quality code.
Responsibilities
Yes I was allowed to work on real client projects and was also given quite a lot of freedom of choice in what tickets I wanted to work on.
Support & Guidance
I received a lot of support. The first two weeks were focused on training and even once we were working on real projects there was always someone available ot ask for technical or non technical support.
Culture
Ghyston has a big drinking culture. Ghyston is very keen to keep all employees happy and keep morale high. There's beverage events in the kitchen throughout the week and a company budget for employees to spend on arranging social events. Everyone is very nice and supportive.
Your Impressions
I found many aspects enjoyable such as some social events and meeting many of the people in the company. It was also very enjoyable learning about the way projects are run and the different roles. Also the company is very open and dedicated a lot of time to explaining how each of the departments of the company work. Often the coding is interesting but there are times you can't avoid less interesting work.
No
It would depend on who was looking to apply.
