Overview
My work involves identifying potential cases for quantum computing in Moody's and building toy models for these use cases. On a day-to-day basis, that involves programming, mathematics, and meetings with my team and stakeholders. During the meetings I updated my team/supervisor on my progress, roadblocks I faced and proposed the next steps I would take.
Skills
I improved my communication skills and my managing up capabilities. I also learnt new hard skills, by programming (mainly Qiskit in Python) and doing mathematics (linear algebra and Bayesian inference).
Responsibilities
I was in charge of my own project throughout my internship.
Support & Guidance
I had weekly or biweekly meetings with my supervisor, and could also reach out to him otherwise, e.g., on Slack. If I wanted to talk to other people, they were also mostly available to talk to me.
Culture
Professional, yet usually not sterile. People have been happy to talk to me and explain what they do, or whatever else I inquire about.
Your Impressions
It has been great to see how a large company like Moody's approaches quantum computing and how the different teams collaborate. Being in a big company has been a great experience. There are many people to get to know, with a lot of expertise.
Yes
Read the job description and imagine what you could talk about for every point. What have you done in the past that illustrates that you have a certain skill or experience?
