Overview
I worked in ground trials. Everyday jobs included attending meetings on the subject of proving, writing specifications. verification and validation plans and qualification evidence collection.
Skills
I have learn a significant amount of systems engineering skills and a lot about planning how to test objects for a wide range of applications. I have built up considerable experience working with standards.
Responsibilities
Yes I was - without going into too many details (for obvious reasons), I was given the independence to write my own formally published and peer review documents, and was far from micromanaged. There were other apprentices, undergraduates, graduates, and "full" employees in my team and I was given the same freedom and responsibility as everyone else.
Support & Guidance
Plenty, I had a line manager, two technical coordinators, buddy, HR contact and the rest of my team alongside all of the other summer placements.
Culture
Very open, nice and cheerful. There's a very relaxed working environment and lots of flexibility on hours, days off ect.
Your Impressions
I did very much enjoy my internship, it has given some extremely valuable experience and I hope to continue working in this area of the industry in my future career.
Yes
Find something that makes you stand out and shows your interest in their work. For me, I have been heavily involved in student rocketry competitions and so this was a great way to show my interest in the area.
