Overview
Each week you get put in a different sector of LAG, you work on a project (or several projects) per sector with the team. You complete basic audit tasks and start to learn general audit/accountancy standards. You also have to do a group CSR project, which you present at the end of your internship and it makes up part of your assessment for a grad job.
Skills
I came into this internship with no audit/accounting experience so everything I have learnt on this internship has been new to me. I have also developed my excel skills - excel makes up a very large part of the work that you do in this internship so you will quickly improve and pick up new things.
Responsibilities
Yes, you get given a fair amount of responsibility because you will get set tasks and left to go complete them. Of course you are encouraged to ask lots of questions when you don't understand something but you are completing tasks on your own. You have to sign off the work that you prepare/complete. The work will be reviewed once you've done it but it is still a fair amount of responsibility.
Support & Guidance
You will be given a lot of support throughout the internship. You get assigned a People Manager who you can go to with any problems and the Resourcing Managers are always there to help you. Also, the team you are working with will provide support for audit specific queries. However, due to hybrid working you might find you spend a lot of time working alone in the office and calling your team with any questions.
Culture
The company culture is genuinely amazing. Everyone is super friendly and happy to help you. No one treats you any differently even though you are just an intern and don't know as much as them. Completely matches what they say on the website, which is very impressive.
Your Impressions
Really enjoyed it. Have loved my time here and am hoping to receive a graduate offer and return once I have finished my degree
Yes
Be yourself in the interviews, they will be able to spot someone that is being fake. Teamwork is super important so make sure you have example to demonstrate it in interviews and during the assessment centre. Show that you have a good attitude and are willing to learn, you won't be the smartest in the room so don't act like you are.
