Overview
I have been given a fairly large software project to work on. This involves daily standup meetings, designing/planning the structure and functionality of the tool, and creating/writing the code for the tool
Skills
This has greatly increased my programming skills as well as taught me new things about how software is developed in a real working environment
Responsibilities
Yes, much of the design and all of the code has been left to me to create. While this is obviously still reviewed by other team members I have been able to create it my way and without micro management
Support & Guidance
A lot. I have a dedicated mentor to guide me and to ask questions as well as a whole team who understand my project and can help with various technicalities I would not have under without them
Culture
The company culture and atmosphere is brilliant and very friendly. Everyone is nice and making friends has been extremely easy. It is a very chilled work environment with no unnecessary pressure
Your Impressions
I have enjoyed my internship immensely. I have learned a lot, gained valuable skills and made great friends.
Yes
Other than being a friendly person and having desirable skills there is not much else to know as Cisco don't have a drawn out and tedious hiring process for interns. I simply submitted my CV and had a few interviews (within the same hour). No secret knowledge required!
