Overview
After training, this role consisted of working on a project within a team. The bulk of the work was picking up various tickets to complete some element of the project you are working on. Each day each team has a 'stand up' to discuss how everything is going and what is to be done. Working with external clients also meant numerous external meetings to discuss progress of the project with clients (weekly + feature demos).
Skills
I had never done any web development before coming here, but Ghyston's training program was comprehensive, teaching us full stack development in their chosen stack, as well as equipping us to learn other technologies as and when appropriate.
Responsibilities
Yes - each ticket that I was given to do was my responsibility, but there was lots of guidance as and when needed to ensure a good result.
Support & Guidance
Plenty - there was always people designated to help out, whether this be during the training or during the project, but more importantly, people in and around you in the office were always willing to help which was a hugely reassuring feeling, especially when taking on something new.
Culture
Everyone in the company was hugely friendly and kind, and the company held loads of morale events that were great fun and really made the people we were working with feel more like friends than co-workers.
Your Impressions
I hugely enjoyed the internship - both the work and the culture at Ghyston was so fun to work with and being around, and the kind and friendly nature of the people really made it feel like home for the duration of the internship.
Yes
I wouldn't be put off by lack of experience - I came here with a small amount of Python knowledge, but I am leaving fully equipped to do full stack web development!
