Overview
The first two weeks were a comprehensive training course. Then I was put onto a project where my day consisted of a stand-up meeting with the team in the morning and then working on client tickets through the rest of the day. Every other day there was also a stand up with the client.
Skills
I've learnt an incredible amount. Not only has my fluency in different programming languages increased, I've learnt how to work in a large code base. I've also developed my skills of creating a relationship with a client.
Responsibilities
I was given quite a lot for a summer internship. I was treated like a member of the team and so, whilst all my code was reviewed, that was just normal practice.
Support & Guidance
There was a lot of support. My line manager checked in once a week and everyone was incredibly friendly so I felt I could ask anyone for help. My team was happy to help and always around to ask questions to.
Culture
Ghyston is a very friendly and close-knit company. It was great that they put on many events where we could get to know the other interns and the rest of the company. It had a very relaxed atmosphere and everyone was happy to be at work.
Your Impressions
It was really great. I've learnt so much and made some great friends
Yes
They want to know if you can learn, not what you know. Remember to talk through your answers if you get to interview.
