Overview
Daily team meetings with change managers, scrum teams and Heads of various Investment and Operations Platforms. Business analysis for application decommissioning. Cost analysis and estimations on Microsoft Excel. Group project meetings and work for presentation to senior leaders in M&G Technology.
Skills
Developed my Excel skills (learned about Power Queries and Pivot Tables etc.). Learned about the role of a Business Analyst and what their tasks/responsibilities involve Improved communication with stakeholders and colleagues Developed leadership and team work skills, working on group project with a team in a remote location
Responsibilities
I was given responsibility in doing some cost estimations and projections from 2022 to 2024. I was tasked to add entries for various tasks and projects to the team's project management dashboard. I was tasked with carrying out the current-state analysis for an app to be decommissioned
Support & Guidance
The Early Careers Team was always there to support us whenever we needed anything. My manager and the whole team was also incredibly supportive and helpful, always willing to explain things to me and help me learn about any new task I was assigned to or answer any question that I had about their work or the company as a whole.
Culture
I was positively surprised by the company culture. Everyone was extremely welcoming and willing to interact with us as interns, regardless of their role in the company. There is an emphasis on making the working environment a positive place to be in, and also promoting work-life balance.
Your Impressions
I very much enjoyed my internship. Having no previous experience in Technology or Financial Services, it was a great opportunity for me to learn about these two sectors. My manager and the team made sure to support me throughout the duration of my internship, and exposed me to a variety of tasks and experiences, so I could get a wide understanding of the company and the different roles in the team during the short 8 weeks I was there.
Yes
Be yourself, they really care about the quality of the people that are going into their company. You don't necessarily have to have a background in their field, but make sure to familiarise yourself with the basics to make sure that it is right for you.
