Overview
Helped manage risk at the bank by using Excel to manipulate data, researching information about different clients and presenting findings to members of my team throughout.
Skills
Developed my Excel proficiency which included using pivots, macros, different functions and more. Improved my confidence to present findings to groups of people. Enhanced my researching skills including my ability to establish key information from a large amount of text.
Responsibilities
I was given tasks that were challenging and also useful to the bank. Some of my work was presented to senior team members to help inform them. For most of these tasks I was given initial oversight and when more confident I was given independence to decide the best methods to complete the project effectively.
Support & Guidance
The team was friendly and willing to answer any questions regarding my work and banking more broadly. If I was ever struggling with a task they were more than happy to set some time aside to help improve my understanding so I could progress with the task after.
Culture
The company culture was very friendly and everyone I met was willing to help aid my development. There was a good amount of flexibility regarding what tasks I focused large portions of my time on as well as who I got to meet and learn from to broaden my horizons.
Your Impressions
I found the internship challenging, enjoyable and worthwhile. The level of work was engaging and thought-provoking without being overwhelming. There were many opportunities for me to develop my skill set and become a more well-rounded future employee in financial services.

Initially, research the company's culture to decide whether it sounds like the sort of environment you would enjoy and be able to develop in. Next, research the different roles available and determine which would be of most interest and utilise your skills most effectively. When preparing for interviews etc consider how you can add value and make sure to ask any questions you may have regarding the internship.
