Overview
Worked in a team of four interns to develop a technical and commercial model for the incorporation of new renewable technologies within an energy park. Had daily meetings with our four managers. Required significant excel modelling, reaching out to other business units, report writing and presentations. We also went on site visits to Centrica's Easington terminal and the Brigg site.

Responsibilities
Yes, I was given a lot of independence and a complex project to work on. The project is at the forefront of the industry and forms the basis of how the company will progress with this strategy going forward. We presented our findings to the senior leadership team of our business unit and did a formal handover of our model to the commercial team for future use.
Support & Guidance
We had a daily meeting with most if not all of our four managers for the project. Outside of these calls they were always contactable for more information or guidance if we got stuck or needed advice. Each manager came from a different sector of the team (engineering, commercial analyst, data scientist) and so could answer most of our questions or direct us to someone else in the company who could.
Culture
Very friendly and collaborative. Everyone we contacted made lots of time for us and was very keen to help us out. Our managers were very supportive and friendly and by the end of the internship it felt like we had formed a really close bond with them.
Your Impressions
I thoroughly enjoyed the internship. Being able to live with the other interns at different points throughout really brought us together as a group. The work was very engaging and interesting and I got on very well with my team and managers. Our site visits with all the engineering interns were a lot of fun and a great way to bond.
Yes
Make sure to prepare for the assessment centre and research the company beforehand. Centrica really value people applying themselves and being engaged so bring a friendly and enthusiastic attitude and be keen to learn. There is no need to be afraid or nervous because everyone is really supportive and just want you to do your best.
