Overview
I was working on the brand team, in which I helped with the role out of the new visual identity. I conducted a full visual audit of the website, helped plan an upcoming photoshoot, led workshops and helped edit the brand asset page, even making my own guidelines. Day-to-day, I attended meeting with the team and would have regular calls with different colleagues across the business.
Skills
I learnt a lot of collaboration skills, as well as confidence in my own abilities and the courage to be wrong. I also learn the importance of flexibility and agility when working in a business. Finally, I learnt a lot of presentation skills and made some truly lasting friendships.
Responsibilities
I was given a lot more responsibility than I was expecting. With all my tasks, I was trusted to complete them on my own and to the best of my ability. I was given the freedom to take my own approach which was so much fun!
Support & Guidance
Even though I had a lot of freedom, I was still supported the whole way through. Whether it was the Early Careers Team or my manager, there was always someone looking out for me and making sure that I was doing OK.
Culture
I felt immediately welcomed at the start of my internship and I only felt more comfortable as time when on. Everyone is so lovely and the emphasis on colleague wellbeing is truly admirable. I was so comforting to see so many friendly faces when I would come into the office .
Your Impressions
I really enjoyed the internship. I was very nervous that I would not be making much of a difference, or only doing the tasks that no one else wanted to do. I could not have been more incorrect. I had such a good time, with the other interns and my team, and truly felt like I had the freedom to enjoy my placement.
Yes
Just go for it. Commit to every decision that you make. Always put your best foot forward because there is so much to get out of this process.
