Overview
Depending on where I was in the tender process my day to day was different. It could involve market research on potential suppliers, drafting documents for the tender, and contacting and liaising with stakeholders and suppliers.
Skills
Procurement is a skill in and of itself. Communication (with suppliers and stakeholders) and organisation are hugely important for completing. Technical skill like using Excel and SAP Ariba.
Responsibilities
I was given a lot of responsibility. Especially when it came to contacting and managing suppliers.
Support & Guidance
My line manager was always on hand and had loads of procurement specific experience for me to draw on. Other colleagues within the company were also always on hand to have a call if I had any questions to ask.
Culture
Company culture is one of the best things about the placement. Everyone was friendly and welcoming. I could book in time and chat with even senior members of the team. Also a strong emphasis on wellbeing and work-life balance.
Your Impressions
Very much enjoyable. Again a very friendly atmosphere and the work was very enjoyable.
Yes
Centrica's values are really important. Make sure you know them and how to represent them in your application.
