Overview
Taking meetings with my teams members to discuss my projects. Catching up with my graduate buddy. I would either work from home or go in person and there was plenty of travel to visit the Hydrogen Experience Centre and other in person events to promote Hydrogen to different parts of the business. Also worked on the Charity challenge organised that all interns participated in.
Skills
I have developed my communication skills and networking abilities. I've also improved my excel skills and ability to use Microsoft tools like teams and outlook. I've learned how to complete projects with different deadlines and travel independently with to go to events to meet my team in person. Time management skills have improved and so has my presentation skills when I had to present to the rest of my intern group.
Responsibilities
I was given complete independent responsibility to participate in any tasks my manager had given me. This were in line with the development points that my manager and I agreed on at the beginning of my internship. The responsibility would occasionally be shared with other graduates or interns but generally we were expected to work without any extra assistance.
Support & Guidance
We had lots of support from the early careers team wo helped us with setting meaningful goals from the beginning. This was very helpful as when I felt as though I was lacking guidance and confidence, I knew my manager/early careers team would help and provide support.
Culture
The general atmosphere is very relaxed and people are very willing to help out whenever the interns need. Despite it being a corporate place, the people are not too intense and even wearing smart casual enforces this relaxed environment.
Your Impressions
I've really enjoyed it. It has almost been perfect and the only thing that would improve it would be going into the office more often.
Yes
Make sure that you take every opportunity provided to you and then you will make the most of it. The assessment centres are easy enough and there's lots of support as they want you to succeed.
