Overview
Tasked with analysing the rewards program to provide insights and suggestions for improvement. Worked on personal projects that were set to me day-to-day, sourcing, collating and undergoing analysis on data, formatting it into a readable format usually for presentations
Skills
Definitely developed technical skills, a lot more comfortable on excel. Soft skills is truly where I developed, so stakeholder management, communication skills, teamworking ability, presentation skills. A lot of my role involved meeting a lot of different people and having to present to fairly senior roles
Responsibilities
I was given a couple more isolated projects, but I know other commercial analysts worked within larger projects that meant they had a lot of responsibility in terms of the weight of their projects. I was entrusted with a few of my teams BAU tasks and they really listened and valued my opinions. In terms if responsibility of my personal project, I feel I had a lot
Support & Guidance
An incredible amount, early careers team especially as well as my team. Work culture here is really great and have never really felt like an intern, more of a respected employee that's been there for years
Culture
Incredible, everyone was really helpful. I spent the first week or so meeting people from the wider company to get a wider feel for the business and everyone made time for me. People are lovely here.
Your Impressions
A lot, the people I've met, interns and other employees and people alike, have been great to get to know. I enjoyed my role and had constant feedback whenever I needed/asked. A lot of extracurricular activity opportunities as well
Yes
Prep hard for your role. Get to know the energy industry as a whole and at least understand what each business unit does. If lucky to get in the role, get stuck in. Ask endless questions and personally I would ask if you could have a big project that you can work with rather than multiple smaller ones. Try to make a big of a difference as possible and do the volunteering opportunities
