Yes, I was given my own independent project to work and I had to take decisions of what angles I was going to explore and research.

Lots of support I had a line manager and buddy within a metre of me who I could ask questions to whenever I was stuck

It was tough work but I really enjoyed it. It forced me to strech my mind and tackle difficult concepts which is exactly the challenge I was looking for. It was also a very nice atmosphere and office to come into everyday.
Yes
For quant roles be really good at probability theory and stochastic calculus. Develop an interest in a nicche and be open minded
