Overview
Research and analysis of client company structure and operativity (including financial and legal info), completing clients Work-Up documents & Trade Restrictions Checklist, attending to in-person client meeting, attending U.S. Construction Casualty team meeting, shadowing my manager in the Lloyds of London, remain up-to-date of the insurance industry and macro trends
Skills
- I refine my ability to analyze clients' needs and recommend appropriate coverage options effectively - I enhanced my overall understanding of clients' financial situations and potential risks - I honed my negotiation, presentational, and communicational skills N.B.: The reason why I'm giving 4 out of 5 regarding "How would you rate the training provided during your experience?", is because sometimes I had inconsistent workload, hence some days I had little to do.
Responsibilities
Yes definitely, mainly related to aspects like confidentiality and attention to detail
Support & Guidance
Unfortunately, I haven't be able to work frequently with my manager as He had to go in the U.S. for a client , and remained there for roughly 70% / 75% of the total duration of my summer internship. Nevertheless, whenever I needed I've been able to contact him. As regard my colleagues, most of the time (~85% of the times) I received the required support and guidance. As regarding the remaining 15% of the time, they where either too busy or in holidays.
Culture
A welcoming and open space place, where people could easily conversate during their work days. As overall I really liked "Aon way of doing business"
Your Impressions
In general this internship has been really useful both from a professional standpoint a well as from a soft skills development. If the question was: "Would you do it again?" the answer is, definitely yes.
Yes
1) Don't be afraid to "chase" people and ask them for more work 2) Socialize and meet as many people as you can (both colleagues and intern-peers) to better understand Aon from different perspective 3) Leverage Aon proprietary capabilities (Aon Avenue, MyLearning, etc.) to enhance your knowledge and discover more about Aon and its areas/departments
