Overview
I have been given a project set by my team to create an automated report which runs every night. Every day I work on the project, learn from my team, have coffee chats with members of other teams and partake in events and sessions set up by the junior talent team.
Skills
Learnt a lot about sprint planning and how teams work. Learnt loads about finance, especially equities trading and financial derivatives. Learnt a lot about how massive universal banks function. Also received training on presenting and creating engaging reports and decks.
Responsibilities
I was given a huge amount of responsibility to assess the problem I was given and to find the best way to solve it. I was always given a lot of support but at the same time I was expected to work problems out on my own and to reach out to relevant teams and people when I needed something that I knew wasn't my team's remit.
Support & Guidance
My team were very supporting, we were in person on the desk so I could always turn around an ask questions. They always made me feel comfortable to ask questions and never made me feel not capable.
Culture
Everyone is very friendly and goes out of their way to try and help you out were possible. Even senior managers are happy to spend 20 minutes having coffee with you to answer any questions you have and impart their knowledge.
Your Impressions
I loved it. There were loads of sports clubs and employee networks to take part in. My fostered a great atmosphere. Every day I looked forward to getting into work.
