Overview
First two days were induction days. For the rest of the internship, we were working at our chosen office helping within the department. We worked on client projects and were invited to catch-ups and client meetings.
Skills
Teamwork, problem solving, networking, presentation skills and time management.
Responsibilities
Yes - we were expected to ask for work and ask questions on it when necessary. Although a lot of the work was alongside colleagues, we were encouraged to research and complete as much of the work as possible ourselves.
Support & Guidance
The induction days provided some general guidance, but we were also aided throughout the scheme by our people leaders and buddies.
Culture
The people I worked with were all very friendly and welcoming. They were willing to help all of the interns understand and learn about the department and the work we would be undertaking in the future. Although they encouraged us to get stuck in as much as possible, they also helped if we were feeling overwhelmed or overloaded with work. Overall, the culture at my office was ideal.
Your Impressions
I definitely enjoyed the SVS. We were given a fantastic insight into the firm and the department.
Yes
Be yourself and don’t be scared to get involved in as much as possible (especially socials and mixing with other interns).
