Overview
E-learning exercises, shadowing members of the wider team, shadowing directors and partners for extended periods, helping out on ongoing projects and working to multiple deadlines. The role really helped to develop time management, communication, teamwork skills and it was a great experience to connect with other SVS students from different universities.
Skills
Submitting work to team members and asking for regular feedback and personal development areas as well as ways to improve the delivery of the work. Also making the most of the opportunity and asking as many questions as possible to learn from co-workers’ experiences.
Responsibilities
Yes! Although you were given as much responsibility as you wanted. So if you wanted to take on lots of work then the option to ask for more was there. Working on real client projects means you have the opportunity to work to deadlines and learn how to time manage your tasks and prioritise work.
Support & Guidance
Buddy system was so helpful and it was great to hear advice from someone who has been in our position recently. Also, everyone in the office was very approachable and easy to talk to.
Culture
Very encouraging, positive, helpful, passionate. Everyone was keen to help you learn as much as possible across your time in the office. People were also happy to get you involved in projects which was really exciting for me.
Your Impressions
I really enjoyed my time here! Especially as someone who has never stayed in London for an extended period of time, everyone was very keen to go to social events and include the SVS into the team gatherings as much as possible. I really recommend the experience to anyone keen to learn more about the professional services industry!
