Overview
The work of an intern has largely been to do more of the manual processes in the consultancy jobs. It is mostly excel based, but can also include other statistical software if you have the skill. A lot of the day to day tasks are checking numbers are correct, sources are correctly referenced and doing some of the initial work to then be reviewed.
Skills
Excel skills are something that make a difference at the start. If you don't already have a good grip of excel (i.e. using excel without a mouse for most of the time) then it is certainly something worth picking up on the job. Communication & analysis is key as well as this forms the consultancy aspect of the job.
Responsibilities
There is plenty of responsibility to be had should you go and look for it. This is mostly around taking ownership of client related work to be done in the first instance before passing on for review.
Support & Guidance
There is a great support network in the team. Everyone has dedicated people (teal leaders, deputy team leaders, buddy etc.) they can go to, but if you feel more comfortable talking to some people specifically then you can always go to them. There are also lots of training sessions both team specific and company wide.
Culture
Company culture is great. Hard working but also very sociable with a relatively flat hierarchy that makes it very relaxed but also productive place to work.
Your Impressions
Massively enjoyed it and would thoroughly recommend LCP to anyone
