Overview
My role consisted of a range of diverse activities. Crafting reports for clients, evaluating asset managers responsible investment policies, helping with disinvestment strategy guidance, researching how AI can be used within the firm, and creating a public document on how the mansion house speech affects the firm.
Skills
I've learnt many new skills while working at Hymans. I think my financial understanding specifically of repo swaps and LDI's has increased and I now understand how a pension scheme can de-risk. My communication skills have definitely gotten better due to having to speak and present. My data analysis e.g. identifying patterns has increased as well.
Responsibilities
I was given the same responsibility an analyst would be given. Lots of freedom and flexible working which was nice. Also was left to complete tasks myself but always given guidance when asked.
Support & Guidance
I received all the guidance I asked for and more. Everyone was super helpful and tried their best to help. If you want to learn and develop your skills for work you will.
Culture
The office is quiet on Mondays and Fridays due to people working from home however everyone was super friendly and down to earth. Went on plenty of socials and felt included and welcomed.
Your Impressions
I thoroughly enjoyed it and would happily work here again!
Yes
Be friendly in the interviews and do some background research on the firm. Listening to the podcasts helped me.
