Overview
Training/learning sessions, interview shadowing, paralegal work, networking with FCA staff and other interns, report-writing, completing projects to deadlines. I have occasionally met with people outside my team, such as solicitors, helping me gain a broader view of the organisation.
Skills
Paralegal skills (new), Excel skills (greatly developed), report-writing skills, professional and personal confidence.
Responsibilities
I was responsible for writing an internal report before a deadline, and working with colleagues on other important documents. Most prominently, I was responsible for producing some documents that would need to be filed before a court deadline.
Support & Guidance
Huge amount of support from colleagues and line manager, who all took time to teach me things and to further my professional development.
Culture
Everyone at the FCA is very friendly and welcoming. Sometimes being in the office felt a bit dull however, as staff only have to come in 2 days a week (hybrid working policy).
Your Impressions
I personally learnt a lot and had a good experience meeting so many other interns and FCA colleagues. I've taken away a lot in terms of my professional development.
Yes
Come in to the office as much as possible, meet/speak to as many other interns/colleagues as possible, take advantage of the opportunities that you get on the scheme.
