Overview
Working on cases and assisting my wider team through carrying out a range of activities, including: case work admin, transcript review, drafting documents, and Excel related tasks.
Skills
Yes, developed my Excel skills, as well as learning a variety of new softwares, including: Altia and Adobe Acrobat. Helped me hone my skills of: self-management, teamwork, and judgement/critical thinking.
Responsibilities
There was a general progression in terms of the level of responsibility given to me. Initially a lot of the tasks I carried out were very routine/admin focused. However I was provided with a number of opportunities to prove myself and my capabilities, leading to more opportunities to get involved in a variety of increasingly challenging and important tasks.
Support & Guidance
You receive a lot of support both in and outside of your team. There is always someone who you can turn to both in office or on teams - and everyone is always willing to listen and offer help. You are also given a graduate buddy - someone who has recently joined as a graduate and can provide you with a lot of advice having recently been in your position.
Culture
Very welcoming, open, and a friendly place to work. You feel like you can turn to anybody and start a conversation/ask questions.
Your Impressions
I had a great experience. My team was welcoming, my manager was kind and brilliant. And I felt that the work I was doing had an impact - even though I was just an intern. Would recommend.
Yes
Take every opportunity. Talk to as many people as you can. Learn their stories - a lot of people's journeys to the FCA are really interesting and you can learn a lot from them.
