The Role
The year placement has been extremely enjoyable, I have learnt a lot and met some great people.
I feel very valued by my colleagues, I feel that they really appreciate the work I do for them and respect my opinions.
Management throughout the placement have given me every opportunity to excel and greater my skills. I have had the opportunity to work with a client and help put together a POC, with face to face client interaction.
Some weeks/days I can be extremely busy and others are a tad more quiet. It completely depends on the time of the year/quarter and on how quickly I complete tasks.
I feel I have been given more responsibility through the second half of the placement, which is understandable as management will then know my abilities.
I feel I can use everything I have learnt here practically, if not within my degree, within my future career. I am applying to return back to IBM for a graduate job, and therefore all I have learnt this year is essential.
The Company
Very friendly, however sometimes quiet a the executives can work remotely, from home or client base, as well as myself.
The placement was not very well organised at the start of the year, I did not get a hand over, as the person who did the role before me left a month before I arrived. I therefore did not have anyone to help me or train me. However throughout the year, it has become far more organised and I know what is expected of me on a daily basis.
There were many events and training/learning activities as well as give back (appearing in schools) throughout the year.

They offer a great graduate scheme in arears such as business consulancy, technology consultancy and sales. I will be applying this year.
The Culture
There was a weekly social at a bar near by where the placement students would go. There were also boat parties, christmas parties and leaving parties that were all arranged for students.
As I am based in SouthBank London, living and socialising can be very expensive. However, as I am working full time I do not go out as often.
Great. London night life is very good, lots to choose from; night clubs, bars, pubc, comedy clubs, imax etc.
There are many opportunities to get involved in outside sports and other activities, including give back. It is up to you how much you chose to participate in.
