Overview
Each intern is assigned a line of business and are allocated projects to work on by their manager. Common tasks include: shadowing brokers, helping service clients and running analytical modelling. The internship includes a Speaker Series where senior personnel present on their business sector. We also completed a group presentation on AI in small groups. There were also several team building/social events for the interns eg a volunteering day.
Skills
Yes I have developed lots of new skills. The AI presentation task helped me develop my public speaking, confidence, team work, communication and research skills. Working in an office environment has taught me professionalism, curiosity and resilience. Networking with colleagues has enhanced my listening skills and helped me expand my network. My task which focused on report reading tested my analytical skills and ability to summarise complex information and make decisions quickly.
Responsibilities
Yes. I had the opportunity to speak to clients directly in meetings. I also had to conduct research and summarise my findings which shaped a report that we submitted to our client. All my tasks had clean deadlines which it was important for me to meet.
Support & Guidance
I recieved lots of support. My line manager was great and was always available if I had a question. My team were also very friendly and supportive. I had regular check ins with the graduate development team who checked everything was going smoothly. I could also speak to the current graduates who previously completed the internship if I needed guidance.
Culture
The company culture was the best part of the internship! Everyone was super welcoming and friendly. I networked with lots of people who were willing to give me their time to help me in my development. WTW has a relaxed working culture with hybrid working in place. People would introduce themselves in the lift/kitchen which made me feel more comfortable. The company placed a strong emphasise on diversity and inclusion which is great!
Your Impressions
I loved the internship so much!! The 8 weeks went so quickly. I wish I could do it again!
Yes
