Overview
My day-to-day tasks included: attending site visits, market research, covenant strength checks, filling out valuation reports, uploading INCAS reports, finding comparables, calling agents, checking tenancy and allocation schedules, attending team meeting in person and via teams, attending departmental overview zooms.
Skills
I have developed the skill of finding comparable evidence by learning to navigate new websites and filling in valuation reports. I have learnt how to use tenancy and allocation schedules, how to conduct a site visit/inspection, check covenant strengths, how to read and upload INCAS reports, how to use internal databases (SQUID) and how to conduct a call to agents.
Business Insight
It's very useful and inspiring to understand how Savills functions as a company, more specifically the valuations team. There are many roles within the company that I was not aware of before and what is required to take part in these roles. This is very useful as it gives me the ability to decide how to navigate my career further depending on what roles I would like to partake in.
Culture
Everyone is very friendly and helpful. I am able to ask questions and someone will always give me a detailed yet understandable answer. The atmosphere of the office is very friendly but also hard working and diligent.
Your Impressions
I enjoyed the insight very much as I learned a lot, it gave me clarity on how to progress in my career and I felt very comfortable in the office.
Yes
I would suggest to not be afraid to ask question and get involved or ask for work as this is the best way to learn. Someone will always be willing to help you so it's best to voice any queries. It's helpful to write down your tasks as a record for what you have learnt/achieved and it will also guide you for further projects.
