Overview
I worked within missile integration, so day to day was contact with client/customer and wider MBDA group teams to enable open communication between all. I would update documents to aid in all stages of the integration process. In charge of all background activities to make sure that the integration project delivered each stage on time. Any and all ad hoc admin/meetings/helping other team members on other projects or within the wider company.
Skills
Learnt more about respect within the work place, how to speak/approach/email people who you may not know already. Presentation/public speaking skills Learning the difference between technical and general approaches to projects and tasks and assessing who your audience is and what they need to hear how you approached said tasks.
Responsibilities
I was given enough responsibility that I felt I didn't have my hand held through any of it, but I also did not feel out of my depth with anything.
Support & Guidance
I had a technical coordinator, buddy, line manager. Line manager for specific task related help. Buddy for encouragement and general advice, as they had been a summer placement and now in the grad scheme within the same function as me. TC for HR related summer placement questions along with graduate scheme questions and wider business understanding. But all support systems would help you with anything, not just these rigid examples.
Culture
Everyone I met, the highest department head, to my team members were all so lovely and friendly. I never felt intimidated or in the way, always felt welcomed and never overlooked even though I was very often the most junior/inexperienced/unknowledgeable person in the room/call.
Your Impressions
I thoroughly enjoyed this placement. 12 weeks was definitely worth it. You only get back as much as you put in.
Yes
