Overview
My role ranges from short tasks like calculating transfer values for individual members to projects that took an entire week such as GMP equalisation. We also had to create a PowerPoint and do a presentation to the other interns and team leaders!
Skills
Yes, I’ve developed so many skills in the world of pensions but one versatile skill is using excel efficiently.
Responsibilities
Yes, right from the first week we got started on client work. Each work is checked by 2 others so it gave me responsibility while being safe in the knowledge anything I do wrong is corrected. We were also given feedback on all our work which improved my confidence when having to do similar work.
Support & Guidance
We were supported and guided the entire time. If I ever had a question, I could call someone on the same team and they’d be happy to help me!
Culture
They have a great DEI team that organise events to encourage people to learn about each others cultures. On my assessment day there was a food festival where people bought food in from their culture and others got to try. The general atmosphere and culture is fantastic, everyone gets on with everyone and there are regular socials.
Your Impressions
I loved this internship and am sad that it is coming to an end. I couldn’t fault it at all, I have learned so many new valuable skills not only pensions specific but also soft skills like using teams and excel.
Yes
I would suggest you research into the company before attending an interview and look at all the opportunities they offer and what they are looking to work on in the future.
