The Role
I really enjoyed my time at IBM and feel that I gained a good insight ino the company and the different departments. I was given the chacnce to manage my own working life and was given a great amount of responsibility.
I had a wonderful reception from my team and was made to feel very comfortable. Despite the fact I was a placement student everyone treated me as if I was a key member of the team.
My managers not only helped me in my role but also took an interest in my personal development and assignments required by my university.
At the start my workload was fairly light but I quickly picked up more work and achieved the perfect balance.
I was given a fair amount of responsibility but often found I had to persue such tasks myself to gain responsibility.
My computer skills have developed greatly and my experiences will prove invaluable in a graduate role.
The Company
The office I was based in was fairly quiet but I was given a few opportunities to work from other busier sites
Initial set-up and access to systems was slow but in my department I was set up and ready to start almost immediately.
I was given the opportunity to take online training and attend workshops within office hours to contibute to my personal development.
Company Parties/Events
Staff Sales/Staff Shop
Working from home
I was told alot about the graduate scheme.
The Culture
my office was fairly quiet with only a few ITs but we did arrange social events.
I was based just outside Manchester so it was very affordable.
Great night out!
Giveback events (volunteering in the local community) was heavily encouraged.
