Overview
Your day to day activities are highly dependant on the project you are working on. In my experience, my day generally consisted of attending client meetings, checking costs, measuring quantities and contributing to the formulation of cost plans.
Skills
100%. This placement has allowed me to build upon the theory learnt at university. It has given me an understanding to the QS processes and stakeholders involved pre and post contract. More specifically, I know now how a BoQ if formulated and how valuations are conducted.
Responsibilities
Little by little. I wasn't overwhelmed with tasks right from the beginning, which was great because it allowed me to get acquainted with Mace, attend learning workshops such as one on NEC4 contracts, volunteer and go on site visits.

Abundant. My team were always readily available and happy to help.

Yes
Be yourself. Don't feed into the 'I need to be perfect' narrative. In my experience, it felt almost like Mace wanted you to demonstrate four things: ability, willingness to learn, enthusiasm and an understanding of the issues and prospects in the construction industry (awareness).
