Responsibilities
i was able to get involved with some overall market research that would be distributed to the client and did small tasks that directly assisted with overall client work. we were given access to all drives and were able to go up to people to ask if they needed help. would have liked to also have one major summer project to work on rather than different individual tasks but both are a good learning experience.
Support & Guidance
my manager was very supportive and concerned about my learning. i would also say that he was good at explaining things and took time and initiative to broaden my knowledge about the market. he also helped me reach out to the wider aon network and had regular catch ups.
Culture
everyone was very welcoming but i do think each team is very different even though they are all trying to adopt the same values. its easy to talk and ask anybody for help and we had regular socials where we felt welcome. the company is also trying to increase its diversity hires so it may not seem as multicultural in the team but its something that's changing.
Your Impressions
i enjoyed my internship so much so that i would like to come back to the same team and i thought the duration was quite good.
Yes
i learned about aon through the actuary of the year from target jobs and would recommend applying to that if aon runs it again this year. for the normal internship scheme i would say it doesnt matter what you study theres a lot of people with different backgrounds here and mainly apply focusing on an actuarial but also soft skillset.
