Overview
You are placed into a department within CRB WTW (eg. marine, aviation, risk & analytics) and you work with that team for 8 weeks. You will be given projects to complete, join in on client meetings, and attend webinars with other departments of WTW. You also complete a group project with the other interns. The managers also arrange lots of socials and networking.
Skills
I have learnt so much about the insurance industry. I came into it not having much knowledge, but have left knowing so much! It was also great corporate experience. We had a few sessions on Networking and LinkedIn, and there is also webinars that build on your core transferable skills.
Responsibilities
I was given lots of responsibility. As well as helping my team with a few ongoing large projects, they allowed me to be the project lead on a few smaller ones. You are also responsible for building your network amongst other colleagues, by arranging to chat/ shadow them.
Support & Guidance
There was lots of support and guidance. The team arranged program objectives, and you also had to set your own. You then had a mid-way review, and an end-review. My manager also had weekly catch-ups with me, in order to check I understood what I was doing, and to let me know if there was any way I cold improve.
Culture
The culture was great. We were encouraged to build our network amongst the colleagues at WTW, by asking for a chat or to shadow them. Every colleague that I reached out to responded, and were very helpful and friendly when I met them. Everybody is more than willing to help, and always has time for you.
Your Impressions
I enjoyed my internship thoroughly. The team arranged lots of socials with the other interns, so we have built a network amongst ourselves. The colleagues at WTW were so friendly, which played a huge role in making my internship so enjoyable. I was given responsibility of tasks and projects, which allowed me to gain experience, and feel as though I was helpful to the company.
Yes
The application process is hard, but worth it! In your application, mention the company values, as WTW is very strong on following these values throughout your day. Do not worry if you do not know anything about insurance, the internship will teach you!
