Overview
Attending client meetings, attending team meetings, drafting reports and client communications, inputting data, using Excel to calculate transfer values and funding levels, completing data checks.
Skills
Going into the internship I had very little experience in Excel but have used it nearly everyday in the internship and have developed my skills in it greatly. The projects I've completed also involved a presentation aspect so my public speaking skills have also improved.
Responsibilities
Almost as soon as I arrived I was given the job of drafting client communications and reports. Being given real work to do straight away kept me really engaged and forced me to learn loads really quickly - it was great!
Support & Guidance
I was given at least one mentor and supervisor in each team that I rotated through but everyone in the teams were great about taking the time to answer any questions I had. People were also happy to book a meeting room and talk through anything I was particularly interested in or confused by.
Culture
Everyone is so, so friendly here! I've been included and invited to every lunch and social event going on in the office, right from the beginning. The inter-office netball and football tournaments were also really great fun!
Your Impressions
I've loved my internship. I've learnt so much and am really going to miss everyone when I leave. The only thing I'd change would be to make it longer!!
Yes
Take the time to research the company and their values before applying so that you are well prepared for the telephone interview stage and the assessment centre. Everyone is super friendly so try not to be too nervous when going to the interview!
