Overview
I ran weekly reports that related to the sales for a particular franchise, within certain markets, and send them out to stakeholders whom I had built a professional relationship with. I also had to tend to any ad hoc tasks I had pending. I also attended team meetings with my department and wider team. I was also given the opportunity to take part in activities within the office campus, and therefore work on any tasks regarding it.
Skills
I have been able to work a lot and enhance my Excel and OneNote skills, as well as complete the LinkedIn assessment for Microsoft outlook. I have also been able to develop my presentation, organisation and time management skills. I learnt new skills regarding certain platforms such as Power BI.
Responsibilities
I was given more responsibility that I was expecting, and I appreciated this opportunity. I was given responsibility in terms of running weekly monthly quarterly report to be sent out to various stakeholders regarding various reports. I was also in charge of certain quarterly activities pertaining to my specific department, and was the go to person when we were changing the platform of a particular process and was in charge of informing in educating our stakeholders regarding the change.
Support & Guidance
I was given a lot of support and guidance through weekly one-on-one meetings with my manager, quarterly meetings with the head of my wider team as well as badly catch ups with our student placement coordinators. These meetings gave me the opportunity to voice out any difficulties I was facing in terms of managing my workload, et cetera and helped me gain the most out of my placement here.
Culture
The company culture was very encouraging and supportive to us students, and we were all given support from our managers regarding our own workload as well as if we expressed a desire to work shadow other team members. Our student placement coordinators also encouraged us to work shadow the other placement students so that we were able to gain exposure into different departments and enhance our placement experience.
Your Impressions
I very much enjoyed my placement here at Johnson and Johnson as the company culture was very supportive and encouraging to students and we were given opportunities from various different people to take part in activities outside of our day-to-day tasks. This allowed us to not only interact with people within our own team but also to interact with people across the office campus from different departments as well as from different sectors and franchises.
Yes
Make sure your CV and cover letter highlight your qualities and showcase a well rounded personality. Based on my experience they are looking for a student that is eager to learn and works well with people. Make sure that you are confident in your qualities and have anecdotes to support them. The Credo is something we always focused on during our work, so make sure to read up on it as it is the foundation for the company.
