Overview
Work with the investment client teams to monitor pension scheme investments and provide reports to clients. Communicate with both external investment managers and clients.
Skills
I use excel on a day to day basis in order to monitor and report, hence I have become competent in the utilizing excel. I have developed general excel skills but also company and role specific skills. The role involves presenting to both clients and the wider team so I feel I have really developed presentation skills. More generally, I have learnt the importance of prioritising and developed time management skills.
Responsibilities
I was very impressed with the amount of responsibility and work I was given and I believe this meant I got so much out of my internship. I was always working within a team there was always plenty of support and work was checked so although I was given responsibility I wasn't under too much pressure
Support & Guidance
I was paired up with two buddy's before I started who were there to offer support and guidance during the internship. They set up weekly meetings to check up on progress. Working in a relatively small office, I felt that there was a very supportive environment, everyone I worked with were always willing to help and everyone was approachable.
Culture
A very friendly and welcoming company. It was clear from the beginning that colleagues enjoy what they do and care about the company. I noticed no sense of seniority in that even the most senior colleagues were approachable and willing to have a chat and help out. Through the intern project and client work I had the chance to work with colleagues in offices around the UK, feeling like one big team
Your Impressions
I thoroughly enjoyed my internship. It provided me with a valuable insight into what a full time role would involved and I gained industry knowledge. There was a great social aspect that made me enjoy coming into the office and the work that I did.
