Responsibilities
Yes, from day 1 I was working on real projects/installations which tests relies on. This was accompanied by the appropriate level of support but it was very much me doing the work.
Support & Guidance
Everyone I worked with was only too happy to show/demonstrate what and how they do their job. People would regularly drop some of their own work to assist with mine or answer any questions I had
Culture
Extremely friendly, always happy to chat or help. Generally quite relaxed work, with very few hard deadlines (as per an R&D setting). When mistakes happened the emphasis was on preventing them in the future and not about blame etc, regardless of who made the mistake
Your Impressions
I massively enjoyed my placement and couldn't reccomend it enough. I enjoyed the work, the people, and the environment and had an excellent year
Yes
Spend time researching the culture, safety attitude and industry. Specifically for this placement, a knowledge of control panels and/or electrical theory would be helpful
