Overview
As a Data intern, you work on 1 large project throughout the 10 weeks of your internship within your team. You also work on an FFM (Functions for the Market), which is a news story which also describes Bloomberg functions; this stays on the Bloomberg terminal forever. There were also many networking opportunities with Managers and Team leaders within Data, including quite senior people.
Skills
In terms of soft skills, I have improved my networking, collaboration and communication In terms of hard skills, I developed data analysis, programming in pandas and optimisation skills.
Responsibilities
We were given responsibility to ask for help/guidance for our projects; we were not spoon-fed all the answers (which was good because it meant that I gained a lot of skills). We were also partially responsible for reaching out to others across the company to network. Our internship project was our main responsibility
Support & Guidance
I received a great amount of guidance! There were Data Intern Coordinators who had somewhat pastoral roles and organised the whole structure of the internship for us. Within our team, we had a Buddy (pastoral role), a Mentor (more project focused), and our Team Leader and other team members were all there to help out if it was ever needed
Culture
The culture at Bloomberg is very collaborative
