The Role
Loved my placement with IBM, was given an interesting role along with real responsibilites and built some very strong working relationships / friends.
Extremely valued, extra work I completed was always appreciated and often led to thank you notes and feedback to management.
Had 2, 4, 6 & 12 month reviews with my PDM (Personal Development Manager) and during the reviews was given some very good advice on development.
Varied a lot! Some days were very quiet but you just have to make the most of this and devlop in different ways e.g. training courses. Other periods when monthly reporting was due was extremely busy and would often have to work overtime.
This was an area where I was given more than what I expected. I was trusted to produce reports on my own which were reviewed by execs and even up to VP level.
Assisted greatly building confidence, presentation skills, communication skills and general work ethics.
The Company
Atmosphere was good, the office was fairy quiet on occasions as many people work from home.
This was excellent, very well organised with plenty of milestone points and reviews.
Was able to enrol in many online courses, however classroom courses were restricted due to expenses.
Flexi Time
Subsidised Canteen
Sports and Social Club
Company Parties/Events
Staff Sales/Staff Shop
Above 25 days holiday
Working from home
Applied for a graduate role, hoping to get a sales role.
The Culture
Had good nights out / meals out but not as many nights in the Manchester location as other locations e.g. South Bank (London).
Reasonable accomodation available and the city centre fairly close.
City centre of Manchester only a few miles away.
Giveback oppourtunities available and I managed to complete 8 events during my 12 months.
