Overview
The role is essentially recruiting for graduate, undergraduate and school and college leaver roles. As a placement student, you gain exposure to all areas of the recruitment process, pipeline management and running assessment centres. There were also opportunities to attend recruitment events, whether that be at universities, external venues or in office. Candidate communication is key, giving great opportunities to develop those skills.
Skills
My communication and presentation skills have developed massively over the course of this year. The role required me to present virtually several times a week so there was plenty of time to practice and develop both of these skills. I have also developed networking skills as I have been exposed to a massive network of professionals, all in different lines of service.
Responsibilities
I was given lots of responsibility. I was running assessment centres, single handedly coordinating the days and ensuring it runs smoothly. I was also given pipeline management experience, to which is normally reserved for senior associates. I was also given responsibility to deliver presentations at universities unaided.
Support & Guidance
I recieved a lot of support. My manager dedicated a lot of time to me, allowing me to answer any questions I had and ensuring I was up to speed. I was also designated a career coach to which was there to ensure that I got everything out of the placement that I wanted to.
Culture
The general atmosphere was one that is positive and welcoming. It allows for employees of any level to freely communicate with senior figueres. You could often find yourself sitting next to senior management in the office. It allows for a very collaborative workplace.
Your Impressions
I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at PwC. I achieved what I set out to at the beginning and beyond. I feel I have developed so much professionally as well as personally!
Yes
Put your applications in early as it is very competitive. I would also advise others to research the firm thoroughly and go beyond the job description to ensure maximal preparation for interviews and assessment centres. Lastly, be yourself during the application process; authenticity goes a long way!
