Overview
I was working full time. I was introduced to the team and what they are doing. I completed all mandatory trainings and later trainings on technology my team uses. i worked on a project with help of my teammates. I was working in Java, on microservices, using gRPC. There were many meeting from time to time, which helped me develop as an employee. I was constantly getting feedback and thanks to Goldman I was always comfortable.
Skills
I developed a lot as a programmer and as a human being. I learnt about GS culture and improved as a programmer as well. I learnt so many new technologies, frameworks, both theoretically and practically. Team taught me how to problem solve, gave me tips on good practices and constantly showed me how to solve problems, that I could not solve myself. I completed many programming trainings at the start and later used them in practice.
Responsibilities
I was given my responsible tasks, but as a programmer there was not much possibility to commit grave error. I was constantly supported by my team and thanks to both unit and integrational tests I was sure, that code I wrote does not have any errors. I was forbidden many things, but it was very easy to not leak any secrets and it did not bother me at all. I was happy about real project I got.
Support & Guidance
I was given a lot of support and guidance both in terms of programming and in terms of developing my career. There were many people I could ask for an advice or I could ask them questions. They were always happy to answer me and I was always encouraged to ask as many questions as I would like. I was given a lot of ways to gather needed info myself as well. I was happy about that way.
Culture
company culture was about diversity and inclusion. We had many sessions on learning about it and importance of it. Atmosphere was great and I met many interesting people. Both during work and during breaks I always felt comfortable and secure and despite working very hard, I was constantly happy and my work was appreciated. My co-workers were always happy to help me and to guide my into right direction, which helped me develop and fell happy.
Your Impressions
I enjoyed my internship very much. I met many great, interesting people. I worked on an interesting project. I did not know much about technology my team worked on and I improved on this knowledge a lot thanks to my teammates. I had a great time here and I surely recommend everyone to work here. There was very inspiring moments and I could share my passions with my coworkers and they were very passionate people too.
Yes
I would advice them to learn about the company and be very exited to work here. I would recommend them to learn a lot about GS culture as well and to network with other people and not be shy. There is always an opportunity to meet fantastic people and everyone should look forward to work in GS. Applying should not be stressful, there is nothing to fear. It is great process and please be optimistic.
