    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • I assisted the Economic Consulting team on two projects throughout my 8-week internship by working with them. Our activities included everything from regulatory economics to impact analyses as well as macroeconomic research. The task required data analysis in Excel in addition to developing along with formatting slides. We attended training at the start of our internship, and every week after that, our Career Coach checked in with us to see how we were doing and to offer us recommendations.

    Skills

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
  • I now know how to structure slides more effectively and produce information for clients that is more aesthetically appealing. Additionally, I have developed my Excel proficiency and learned more about the workings of the consulting industry. More importantly, my soft skills have definitely improved. These include networking and how to interact with their senior members. The entire crew at this company actively assisted me in growing my skills and gave me a lot of valuable advice based on their consulting experiences.

    Responsibilities

  • 3. Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
  • Our work on the deliverables that went out to clients put us in direct contact with them. As a result, we were given important duties and held to high standards of performance since we were recognised as Associates. The work was highly satisfying and provided a genuine glimpse into what it might be like to work here on a permanent basis despite the steep learning curve that was present at first. On our efforts, we received helpful criticism that advanced our knowledge.

    Support & Guidance

  • 4. How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
  • My career counsellor along with me met once a week, and he gave me tips on how to enhance my work and direction based on his experiences working for the company. I had feedback sessions with all of the firm members I had direct contact with at the conclusion of the two projects I worked on, and they offered me an honest evaluation of my strengths and areas for improvement based on the work I had accomplished throughout the project.

    Culture

  • 5. What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
  • People went above and beyond to make sure we felt at home and respected. The culture was really friendly and encouraging. A healthy work-life balance was a top priority for the organisation, and we were encouraged to create our own boundaries to safeguard the time and occasions that were significant to us. The team had a terrific working environment, with everyone encouraging one another and ensuring that everyone was finding their work rewarding and accomplishing the goals they had set for themselves.

    Your Impressions

  • 6. To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
  • The eight weeks here were incredibly fun. The work was difficult, and I felt stretched, but the support and direction made sure that I never felt personally challenged. The advice was really helpful, both for the work I was doing as well as for the development of my career and myself. Even senior team members asked us for our opinions and took our advise into consideration when working on the projects, thus everyone was really friendly and treated us with respect.

  • 7. Would you recommend PwC to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 8. What advice would you give to others applying to PwC
  • I know folks here who wish they had applied to a different team, so make sure you apply to the correct line of service (LOS). While internal transfers are feasible, the procedure can be challenging and drawn out, so it is preferable to make sure you are looking for something you are actually passionate about right away. I would also advise folks to get in touch with a team member because they are always happy to offer suggestions and counsel.
