Overview
On a day-to-day basis, I had to take care of making sure that the events happening in the near future were under controlled, that the shops around London had the right amount of our products. I had to be in contact with PR agencies as well as influencers to raise brand awareness.
Skills
I have developed my curiosity as I met people that came from everywhere around the world as well as working in a work environment which I had never done before; thus I had to rapidly fit in. Moreover, I challenged myself to be proactive and extremely fast, as marketing is a sector that changes everyday, as you have to follow ongoing trends and be on top of it as much as you can.
Responsibilities
I believe that my responsibilities grew as my line manager went away for a few weeks, I was left alone with emails to take care of, events to take care of as well as big decisions to handle. I believed this might've been overwhelming but I thoroughly enjoyed feeling like my opinion was valued as well as my decisions important to others, which I wouldn't have expected as a summer intern.
Support & Guidance
I received the perfect amount of support and guidance. My manager was helping me and answering my questions when it was necessary, but I always felt quite independent and felt like I was working in autonomy. Moreover, the whole of L'Oreal was always helpful and there to answer a question, especially the HR team !
Culture
The L'Oréal culture and atmosphere is great. Everyone is welcoming and eager to meet you as well as very curious. I enjoyed the L'Oréal office as well as the many perks of being in such a nice location with lovely facilities. The atmosphere was a perfect balance between challenging, serious as well as warm, encouraging and always eager to help. I would've never expected such a big name to feel as lively.
Your Impressions
I thoroughly enjoyed this internship. I believe 10 weeks is the perfect amount, you get to learn a lot everyday, to meet a lot of people and to have an actual impact on the brand you are working for. I think this exceeded my expectations as I have learned a lot about myself, about others, about the work - life balance as well. This internship has made my future career goals much clearer.
Yes
I believe it is all about confidence. You have the right to apply to L'Oréal, so do it ! You have the right to speak up, to give your opinions, to show who you are as well as what you think. I loved the open minds of my peers, and the feeling that my opinion was interesting to those around me, even if I am younger and less experienced.
