Overview
On a day-to-day basis, I plan sampling activations for our new launches, including locations, quantities, and leaflet design. I place orders, action send outs and conduct market research. I am also responsible for pulling weekly and monthly data and communicating my findings to the wider team.
Skills
Over the summer I have continued to develop skills such as prioritisation, proactivity and working quickly and accurately. I have also leant lots of new excel tips/tricks as well as developed my general workplace communication, for example email tone and having the confidence to speak up in meetings.
Responsibilities
I was given lots of responsibility which was great! I was worried that I would spend my summer doing research based tasks which would never be put into action, but that certainly wasn't the case. I was given real responsibilities from day 1, including organising multiple sampling activations from start to finish, designing new leaflets and presenting monthly results.
Support & Guidance
Had weekly 1-2-1 with my manager. The whole team was very friendly and helpful, I felt like I could reach out to anyone when necessary.
Culture
Really friendly, approachable and chatty. There are interns/apprentices/grads so lots of young people in the office.
Your Impressions
I thoroughly enjoyed this internship! It was a fantastic way to spend my summer, gain proper insight into life at L'Oreal as well as an in depth understanding of my role and many others. I think 10 weeks is a good amount of time as you develop real rapport with your team and feel like your ideas and opinions are appreciated and actioned.
Yes
Do lots of research into L'Oreal as a business, not only did I find this really interesting but it will help you stand out, particularly during the final interview presentation.
