Overview
I had a daily catch-up with my mentor to discuss my project and progress. We created tasks for the next few days and I worked on those. Every day there was a stand-up we attended.
Skills
I learned about C++, Apache Kafka, Jira, Agile and Git in terms of technical skills. In terms of soft skills I developed my presentation, communication and teamwork skills
Responsibilities
I was able to take ownership over my project and decide which tasks I'd prioritize. I was working on a project my team would have done in a few quarters so it was important work but the time pressure wasn't intense.
Support & Guidance
I had daily meetings with my mentor and weekly ones with my team lead. I was also able to reach out to other members of my team for help which was very helpful
Culture
The company has a big focus on collaboration and just about everyone I met was friendly and open. There's also quite a big focus on volunteering in the local community
Your Impressions
I enjoyed it a ton, I feel like I got to connect with everyone in my team and I had the chance to learn a ton of skills though my project. I also got to interact with the other interns in the engineering and business units a lot.
Yes
I would focus on learning and appreciating the culture they have at the company as well as developing your technical skills for the interviews
