    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • As a sales intern, my time was mostly occupied by online & face to face client meetings alongside my senior sales partners and managers. I was assigned multiple tasks related to sales prep, client profiling, emailing potential clients, lindkedIn navigating and learning.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
  • I has first hand experience on IBM's sales process. From engagement to closing deals. It have me the confidence to present myself in front of senior members of different companies. I gained essential presentation skills. Also, I was able to learn about the different tools such as IBm sales cloud and LinkedIn Sales Navigator. Moreover, I was introduced to protocols and ethics of working in a professional Corporate environment.

    Responsibilities

  • 3. Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
  • As a 3 month intern, I didn't expect to be given a lot of responsibility. However, I would say that it was a great balance. I was assigned work from multiple managers with no specific deadline, therefore it relieved most of the stress.

  • 4. How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
  • A lot. My foundation manager, task manager, sales team and graduate buddy were always available to help me out and answer my queries on time. We were guided about every protocol and process from the start.

    Culture

  • 5. What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
  • It was very diverse. A lot of people from different ethnic backgrounds, gave out a very welcoming gesture for the new interns. The atmosphere was friendly and alive, it wasn't terrifying, but it was very friendly and everyone seemed very approachable.

    Your Impressions

  • 6. To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
  • As I said, it provided a great work-life balance, so I was able to learn, work and be stress-free throughout my time in the internship. I was able to travel on my Corporate credit card easily to attend client meetings outside the office, which gave me the opportunity to explore different offices and their office culture.

  • 8. What advice would you give to others applying to IBM
  • Ask as many questions during the cohort as possible. Clear all sorts of doubts from your foundation and task managers in the start. It will give a proper idea about what you are here for. Document every single task, experience, learning you do, it will help in reflecting upon it.
