Overview
I attended meeting and took notes. I did quality assurance to check if pipes and ventilation ducts were in the correct place. I marked on engineering drawings where pattresses were supposed to be. Labelled delivery dates and locations on floor layouts, for objects that were soon to be delivered.
Skills
I learnt how to do manual handling safely. I learned how to be safe on a construction site and I gained experience in marking gridlines, quality checking ducts and pipes. I also learnt how to interpret engineering drawings and where to add pattresses to them.
Responsibilities
Yes, I did my CSCS test and I passed it, this meant that I was allowed to go on the construction site unaccompanied and I measured the distances between copper pipes to see if they were the correct width to fit a radiator in, I also checked if ventilation ducts are in the correct place.
Support & Guidance
I was taught how to be safe on a construction site, I was taught how to do each task that they asked me to do and they answered all of the questions that I had for them.
Culture
Everyone was polite and friendly, I have nothing negative to say about the culture and atmosphere.
Your Impressions
I enjoyed it a lot, it is the first time that I have had any work experience and the first time that I have ever stepped on a construction site in my life.
